notes:
I sat at the edge of the pond and threw rather large rocks in to the pond while a friend threw fairly large rocks int he water - I attempted to trip the shutterat the the moment of impact - it took a few practices to get it right - and my friend ended up with a rather sore throwing arm. I spot metered on the water - and this one was the best of the bunch. It isn`t easy getting the right focal length, the right DOF and the right location for the splash - I did this to remember a similar thing I had done with a friend earlier inthe summer. Steve died in October and this was my way, a few days later of saying goodbye.

My peaceful easy joy of this scenic is somewhat rattled by the stone but that is the point isn`t it. Want to tell how you did this shot?

Beautiful picture just pity for too strong darkness.

I find the picture a little bit too dark on my monitor.

Greg Summers Greg Summers #13 Fri 28 Dec 2001 16:16

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions - that the images is dark, but not as dark it may be on some screens - and I think what was important to me is the patterns of light and dark more than the detail. In print, the patterns are more effective, I think. Jpegs are mere ghosts of the larger tiffs and prints from those tiffs are considerably different than what I see on screen - some print horribly and some print much better than i expect - what i do know is minor erros are sometimes hidden and sometimes so prominent I can hardly stand it and have to start with a new scan.
