Waiting for a Handout
This was my little friend Lucy! For several seasons she was a daily visitor, riding on my shoulder when I was cutting wood and stealing peanuts from my shirt pocket. Then one day late in the early winter she appeared after a days absence and she looked a mess. Closer inspection revealed she was missing a front leg. She left as quickly as she came and we saw her no more! I think she came to say goodbye? I miss her.
Photo taken with Pentax SP and 200 mm tele. lens on slide film and scanned on a Canoscan slide/negative scanner.

Wayne.... (( she probably did come to bid farewell....
Such a beautiful capture. Her pose is one of a kind so very well recorded here. Gorgeous background, with diagonals of the falling snow.. Wayne, do you think if you leave the not so sharp 1/4th of the image from the right out, you`d have a photo just as strong. I think it might work.
Thanks so much for sharing the image and the story.
