deserted places seem to exert a hell of an influence upon many an artist
these are inclined to associate a certain nostalgia with them and expect the audience to have the same reaction – to fall apart to feel there is no energy left and no will no desire to carry on to oppose the smashing tide of time
they`ve got it from moments lost in the opaque past
from silly romantics dreaming frozen in cemeteries no one else would visit for no reason at all
places that would only nourish the misery of he who would refuse getting a life
as a reaction to that strange desire to take refuge in secluded abandoned places we have the city with all its swarming life
if we do not want the contrast to be too great to take we put something between this world and us
any kind of screen - folding or not
in other words (that photographers into computers might like more) any kind of mask
