Many drinking fountains can also be found inside the old village, the oldest one was built in 1457! This one is “Fonte do Casino” and was inaugurated on the 21st of July 1927 and I really like it because it has a glazed tile panel representing a Triton holding a sea-urchin (the symbol of Ericeira’s heraldry) in one hand, and in the other, a whelk used by the fishermen in the past as a sonorous warning instrument!
