The Cameron Gallery
The Cameron Gallery is located at the edge of the regular and landscape parts of the Catherine Park, on the slope of a hill divided in the 18th century into four terraces. The height of the gallery is equal to that of the Catherine Palace but since it stands on a slope, its lower floor made of Pudost stone is not the same height as the ends of the building. It seems to rise higher as it recedes from the Catherine Palace. This effect has been achieved by gradually increasing the height of the ground floor constructed of fitted Syask slabs. The walls of the first floor contain three-part windows. The piers between the arced windows are made of stone from the town of Pudost and roughly finished. The arcade of windows on the lower floor is framed by pilasters faced with jagged blocks of Pudost limestone.
