Stone carvers are currently finishing this awesome sculpture of me on Mt. Rushmore in the USA. What an honor! Several years ago, I had been interviewed by the Mt. Rushmore selection committee and asked why I should be chosen over the other finalist, Ansel Adams. I told them Ansel was less than truthful. He was known to heavily manipulate photos before the computer age began. He would convert daylight scenes into night and apply much contrast to achieve monumental effects. On the other hand, I believe the essence of true photography is to capture the world through a quality lens. No more, no less! I also feel Photoshop is the work of Satan turning the world into photo tweakers! Of course, I was chosen to join the sculptures of the great presidents on that mighty mountain.
OK, this was all just an awesome dream but I did apply some Photoshop (Which I love) to this intense pose of myself. My wife, Marcia photographed me leaning on furniture and those poses were added as tiny carvers. I was asked why I looked so defensive. It just seemed to be a look that many digital photographers enjoy these days as they boast about having more megapixels, larger LCD screens, longer digital lenses ,bigger sensors and any other expensive digital stuff where size made a difference.
