The island of Jurmo on the coast of Finland. Despite the hard weather conditions, there are some trees and many beautiful plants growing in Jurmo. Yet most of the island is covered in rocks. In Finnish, we call these areas "pirunpelto", which translates into devil's field.

Some interesting notes there Teemu.
In the Canary Islands, they grow grapes and tomatoes in black volcanic lava which has been ground and machined into gravel. It has no nutritional value to vegetation at all, but retains moisture enough for plants to grow.
Tell me, do the locals on Jurmo grow things in these "rock" fields?

There are only a few dozen people living on this small island. They live on fishing and tourists. The devil's field is barren land, so nothing grows in it.
