The Pimento is a variety of large heart shaped bell pepper, a hollow fruit, usually red, green, orange or yellow, eaten as a vegetable, either raw or cooked!
Pimento or Pimentao are Portuguese words for “bell peppers” while Pimenta refers both to “Chile peppers” and “Black pepper”.
They are succulent and aromatic and the most well known are the green and the red ones (we all know the familiar red stuffing found in the green olives).
In Portugal we eat them in salads or stuffing (for instance, we make a mixture of cooked codfish, onions, garlic, olives and olive oil and place it inside the Pimentos) and the result is a savory dish very, very tasty, believe me!

In french we name them "poivrons" and they often come from Netherlands ...

Capsicums we call it. Very delicious indeed.
Wife stuffs them with variety of vegetables and bakes them.
