Standing on top of Sintra’s highest hill is the 8th century Moorish Castle (Castelo dos Mouros), regarded as one of the major fortresses erected by the Moors in Portugal.
Of the four towers that still stand today, one can be reached by steps and offers breathtaking views of the surrounded area.
