The Chersonese in 1996 brought by the decision of UNESCO in hundred most outstanding monuments of world culture.

Chersonese was the Greek colony based in 422-421 BC In a translation from Greek "Chersonese" means peninsula. There lived farmers and handicraftsmen, doctors and sculptors, architects and artists, historians and poets. It was the slaveholding republic with a democratic form of government; the national meeting was the government supreme body.
