After the first defence from Sevastopol everything has been taken out that could be considered as "trophy". Have not avoided this fate and 13 bells of the Sevastopol churches. In 1913 one of them has been found out hanging in the well-known cathedral of the Parisian Mother of god (Notre Dame de Paris). About it it became known to the French consul in Sevastopol L.I.Ge which has suggested to return a bell. On November, 23rd "bell-captive" has arrived to Sevastopol.

For some years before in 1884г. At cape Chersonese was wrecked, having run in a fog into coastal rocks, a steamship "Peter". Since then this bell has been specially appointed to call during a fog.
