The main attraction of Kalyazin, bell tower of St. Nicholas Cathedral (1796-1800), became a tourist attraction after was not any fun events - flooding, Uglich sea most of the old town, shopping area, the ancient Holy Trinity Monastery, streets and suburbs ... Nowadays, high five-storied tower, one of the symbols of the city and across the Volga River, marking the spot where once was a high bank of the river, which roared market square, where the cost in different sides of the road, and stood in front of a beautiful Trinity Monastery with bell-like, as would have to echo Nikolskaya.
Nicholas (Nicholas) church was built in 1694.
When the dam was going home, which should have been flooded, dismantled and moved to another place, and that hurt, but could not be dismantled, such as the monastery, just blew up. However, the local Communist authorities found it convenient to use the tower as a place for training novice parachutists. Therefore, it decided at first not to demolish. Later the tower and did leave. Moreover, it sprinkled with soil to prevent the destruction caused by water and ice. Now this place a kind of pilgrimage and a symbol of the city.
