Backlighting from a penlight source provide drama to the ensuing drama.
Their long delicate fins get somewhat damaged after the bout but grow back quickly after . They spread their gill covers wide and expose their gills as a sign of aggression. Nowadays, hobbyists do it with mirrors instead so their pets will not get hurt.

I happen to have a couple Bettas of my own, I have a clear divider between the two so they don`t get hurt. They drive each other nuts all day long. I don`t think there is a more beautiful (freahwater) fish around, and you have surely captured that look quite nicely!
