The story goes far back into the life of a king and a girl who loved each other but could not get married. The king eventually has a queen, and the girl stays far away across the ocean. After many years, when the girl is on deathbed, she writes to the king a letter that says, " Soon I will die. Please come and see me. If you still love me, the boat in which you come should have white sails. If not, it should have black ones." The king sets out for the journey with his queen in a white sailed boat. Meanwhile, the queen who gets jealous, changes the white sails into black. The girl is informed about the black sails and she dies in despair.

Something like that...
