there is something with the light here
it is strong in the middle of the picture – it could also be due to the surf – but on the sides (the sea on the right and the roofs of the houses on the left) it is dim
it is strong on the rocks in the foreground too
especially the dark houses disturb my eye – it would expect the light to grow brighter and brighter as it seems to be advancing from right to left on the row of houses at the waterfront
it is these houses to the left that should be almost burning under the light
for the picture to be alive
