A quiet moment was interrupted by a very loud noise.Two cats ran frantically."Oh,no",I said to myself.."something has hit the window.." and, with such force,I knew that no creature could survive. Cautiously,I peered onto the walk-way. A huge bird lay on its` back,eyes closed, and the rapid shallow breaths confirmed my first morbid thought. I quickly got the camera and ran outside. To my surprise,the bird had managed to turn over..but...those eyes remained closed,and his head drooped lifelessly onto the concrete. I actually felt intrusive..The brown-feathered mass deserved privacy....not intervention by an onlooker..Image #1:a lifeless subject. As I inched closer,it was clear that the rapid breaths were now slower and more rhythmic. "Image #2" is my post....seconds after it was taken....that crumpled mass of brown gracefully soared to the top of the hill. I was in awe...elated..Tearfully,I rejoiced. Another gift and miracle had arrived at my window ..He IS a Red-Tailed Hawk !!!
