A male Wood-Duck...I hadn`t seen him for several weeks until Sunday....as I was feeding the mallards, geese,etc.....something told me to glance over by an old wooden dock..gee-whiz!!! there he stood...rather "stand-offish." I hardly moved as I tried to capture him..it had rained and the little droplets had beaded on his feathers. I looked everywhere for his mate, but couldn`t locate her anywhere..Maybe she will return...and...maybe I`ll get lucky...

Longest lens closests up and you should have been above to make the background a wonderful abstract of light mutted colors instead of a distraction without context. I would Photoshop this into the hall of fame since the wood duck is so perfect. If you do not like digital fideling, I would be glad to do it for you when I set up my new work studio in Sanibel in July.

Excellent picture. The background doesn`t disturb me much.

Surprisingly beautiful bird, Mary! I am truly amazed by these bright ,
contrasting colors! Great background composition gives an unusual,
but strong and dynamic frame to it! Great portrait!

Hi, Mary. This is one of the few duck photos I`ve seen that I really liked. It`s great seeing one of these beautiful birds out of the water.

Beautiful bird, mary. The background is a little distracting, but we can`t always be in the most optimum position, and you don`t pass up a marvelous capture like this.
