Miguel Torga is a pseudonym of Adolfo Rocha, he was born in S. Martinho de Anta (Sabrosa) and since 1941 he was a doctor in Coimbra .
In 1989 he won “ Camoes Award”.

My profile is as hard as that of the world.
Who could sense in the grace of poetry?
Stone carved with pickaxe and suffering,
It is a hostile wall around the orchard.

Inside there is fruit, and freshness
There is all that makes a poem sweet and desired:
But the who passes along the road
Not even dreams that on the other side
The landscape of life goes on.
