These channels about 600 years ago were navigable. Channels since then have not so changed, simply "fleet" was such "fine" earlier. Therefore Brugge which is now from coast in 50-60 km, was considered as a seaport. And now it is one of the centers of tourist pilgrimage in the Europe...

Amsterdam is a great city to capture. If I were the photographer I would wait for someone to appear on the foreground to illustrate what your call the winter day reflections. There`s nothing like the human presence to give the sense of scale and atmosphere. Without it, it could be almost any day of the year in A`dam.
