The lock once belonged to the count surname owned the grounds on which today there is a Gent and its districts. These walls have sustained the first attack in 1080. The basic structures of the lock and a tower have been completed much later: in XII-XIV centuries. After Great French revolution of a premise of the lock have been plundered and were in desolation. From the end of XIX century and almost till 30th years of the last century in it industrial warehouses settled down. Today in the restored part of the lock there is a historical museum. Restoration works proceed...
