What a catch! It looks like you got the camera in time! The framing, that little pink nose and the angle of the cat`s paw form a wonderful image! The nice dark background also keeps the focus on that little pink nose!

Precious capture, Mary! I think that the cat is covering it`s eyes because it knows you are going to use `flash` and thinking "Oh no! Here it comes again!" smile )) Great details.

oh yes i remember them doing that
they sleep and all of a sudden something bothers them and they go for it without waking up
they do it several times and then let the paw return slowly to something like its initial position or they just cover part of their face and stay like that - until another urge or the time when they awake
sometimes they do it when they are not asleep
such could be the case now - if my guess regarding the cat`s position is right i would say it can only be awake here (that is the tip of the tail is it not that one over there on the left)

to my mind if there were less of the picture on the right (the vertical cropping line running roughly through the spot where whisker number 3 or 4 - counting from bottom to top - meets the contour of the head) the remaining image would be smoother compositionwise - the black controlling slightly less than the upper half with the ear less central and the white taking care of the rest

(i also see some light specks in the upper left-hand corner and i do not know what they are
if dust on the scanner bed is the cause than it is easy - re-scanning
if the film has them it is easy too - computer photoediting)
