This was shot last week at an old, abandoned homestead. The `side` porch is located off the kitchen door and what was curious to me was that the water well was there. The porch had been built around it and initially water was hauled up using a bucket. Usually `deep wells` such as this one were located between the barn and the house since a well provided water for the people and for the animals.
Later when electricity became available a `well house` (the block structure) was built and an electric pump was installed. I like to think that the people that lived there were thrilled with all the `modern` conveniences. :))
