Hi Iza,

considering it as a holiday snap-shot itґs a very nice shot indeed - especially as itґs very well framed and the pose is nice as well.

Technically spoken you may consider not to use a combination of 1/2500, f/7.1 with ISO640 and DVP "Sports". To stop action 1/500 shutter-speed would have been far enough. To get DOF right f/7.1 was perfect. Considering the given light-situation i find that there was no need for ISO640 as it introduced noise only.

Another aspect you may consider is that exposure-metering was set to matrix instead of center-weighted or spot which caused the face to be dark. The good news - increasing brightness and contrast a bit (Nikon View, Nikon Capture or Picture-Project) will give you a more balanced result.

Please take the beforesaid as encouragement to go on with your work and as help from one Nikon D70-user to another cos thatґs the way it was meant.
