Very good and impressive photo. Maybe too many rocks on the bottom. I would probably try to cut bottom one out, and live just two top steps.

I think that would be cropping too much. Maybe just the dark area at the very bottom or leave it as is.

Maybe too much, but this is my point: the main subject is that cross, and its black. The rock on the front is in focus, and its the litest subject on this photo. Because of this our eye, whenever we whant it or not, will move down to that rock. But we don't whant it, did we? We would like to move our audience eyes from the bottom to the top, to that ctoss. Am I right? So, the logical way to prevent it would be to crop the bottom of this image at least until the end of tha flat first step part.
