This is summer residence of serbian Duke Milos Obrenovic (1780-1860). He was a son of a poor peasant, illiterate but in despite of that he became well known cattle trader in this region and made a fortune. He declared himself as a duke and made good political connections with Ottoman empire who ruled this region for five centuries. Later on he used support from Russia and good relations with ottomans and got some kind of partial independance for Belgrade.
This residence was built in 1831 (now it`s a museum) and the same year the plane tree was planted. Now it has this metal columns to support its branches. I thought the metal would injure the bark and tissue, but tree accepted it well and grew new layers of wood all around it. I hope there is still enough energy in this old tree to continue its life.
