Very sad photography.... -in real life this place not very sad, so I seem, but here, in work -- lines and heel create the sensation of the despair....

You are constantly exploring layers in your work, matching up plants against wood, wood against metal, metal against human presence. This seems to be a very natural, unintrusive approach to the subject matter you encounter in the Maramures. Instead of highlighting contrasts, discrepancies, and juxtapositions, you emphasize a coexistence, a symbiosis of sorts - of objects and living matter. I`m just realizing now how very characteristic this is of your images... In the photo above, there`s another dimension, of course -- that of borders. How incredibly symbolic is this notion, considering Romania itself being on the outskirts of Central Europe, geographically and otherwise. And it`s also true of the Maramures, the region that`s inside the pale of the old ways of life. Seemingly simple, unassuming, your images are capable of taking viewers on journeys -- pardon the highfalutin language -- of the mind and heart.

It is interesting to see the colors at the foreground against the "B&W" - Special composition, Rene!
