Canal people and their heritage drifted apart from the rest of the people of 18th and 19th century Britain, developing their own free-floating cultureBoating Enthusiasts with its own traditions, customs, ways of work and dress and of course its own folk art. No one really knows where they came from, though it's unlikely they were of Romany (gypsy) origin as some historians once thought. Their separate way of life lasted until quite recently and there are ex boat people still living who remember the life well.

ah chandru, this is a good shot, maybe taken on a place called the norfolk broads, where you still can rent these great boats out for a holiday and cruise along the canal systems, i am hoping to do this when my daughter grows up, a great shot
