This amusing specimen of Great Blue Heron is catched during the shooting on one of the swampy territories of Texas. Usually herons are sufficiently graceful creation, but that creature (yes, its “him”) simply struck with its angularity, untidyness and complete “don’t care the way I look like”. The beak is well soiled into mud, feathers around the neck and part of the forelock fluttered in different directions, plus that ear itching (or whatever herons have instead of). But nevertheless, to see him was very amusing, especially I never have an opportunity to see the leathery, sharped-clawed, tridactylous paw of heron from upside-down.

Canon 10D with Canon EF 100-400/4.5-5.6 L IS USM at 340 mm, ISO 200, F/6.7, 1/250s, hand-held.
