Mira - one of six major cities of ancient Lycia and the large centre of christianity which basic sights are numerous rocky tombs and an antique amphitheater.

Спасибо за интересный экскурс, любопытное фото, хочется рассматривать!
Центр христианства.... странно, а легенда скорее на языческую похожа...

В современном Демре (старинноное название Мира) находится Церковь св. Николая Угодника. Он покровительствует мореплавателям, городам, воинам, детям, больным и старым девам. Турки чтят и знают его как Ноэль Баба. Святой Николай был епископом в этом городе в IV веке, умер здесь же в 345г. Часть мощей святого хранится в склепе собора города Бари на юге Италии. А часть в Анталийском археологическом музее. Склеп, в котором первоначально был упокоен Святой Николай находится в церкви Святого Николая в г. Демре.
