Jim, I don't think I asked this yet on the series of bears but what kind of range is between you and the bears here ? I'm guessing a mighty big zoom !!! These guys arent little black bears which can still kill you quite easily they are manhunters !! Very brave of you to get all these fantastic shots that you have ! Take care smile

Hi Billy,
Most of these were taken with a Nikon 80-400 zoom. This one would have been taken at the 400 range to go across the body of water between us and the bears. Not to say these grizzlies(in Katmai) are any different than in other national parks(glacier, yellowstone that I've been in) as they are wild animals, but they were much less threatened by people. Still, it certainly gets your heart beating faster when one crosses a trail just in front of you.
