Lake O'Hara, Yoho National Park....You still with us Billy? :-) After 2.2 km of steep uphill climbing we finally reach Wiwaxy gap. We have gained 503m in this section of the trail. The trail is well marked with 2 vertical yellow stripes on a blue background. The trail just before the gap has gotten steep enough that it's almost like being on all fours as you can use your leg and your hands. Still, there is no technical climbing involved. And what a view! Wiwaxy stands for windy, but the wind is not very bad on this day. Lake O'hara is 34.4 ha in area and 42m deep the water comes from glacial meltwater which gives it such a unique blue color.

have enjoyed your lake o'hara ramble, beautiful wild and natural surroundings, can't imagine what this would be like first hand as we have nothing so dramatic in ireland and definitely no glacial melts, superb documentary images
