This is a Tintype image which was taken in the late 19th Century. It was taken and then exposed on a tin/metal sheet. The tin was coated with black paint or lacquer and while the surface was still wet the sensitised collodion negative was processed immediately after being exposed so producing an early version of the instant photo. This process was invented by Prof.Hamilton Smith of Ohio in 1856.This image is an original of a friend's Grandmother. The next one will be the Grandfather.Enjoy My Friends.
