Thought it would be worthwhile for a view of the road/trail travelled to reach our destination. As you can see the last part of the trail was over a snowy slope. In fact, I thought I wasn't going to be able to finish this hike as they had a chain across the trail a little while back, but fortunately a ranger came and removed the chain. The very far away lake(Lake Sherburne is a lake you drive by when entering the Many Glacier area. You can't quite see the start of this trail and the first lake and the Many Glacier hotel are hidden from view. The lake in the middle is the second lake (Lake Josephine) you pass on this hike. Below the crest of the hill is the third lake you pass (seen in a previous picture) Grinnell Lake. I've read of a grizzly attack on this trail, so you do hike through grizzly territory to get here. (But well worth the small risk) Grinnel Glacier trail, Glacier National Park, Montana...Scanned negative.
