Perhaps one of the more unique hikes I have ever done is a hike in Waterton Lakes Canada caled the Crypt Lake hike. It is an 11 mile roundtrip hike with an elevation gain of 2300 feet fo a beautiful lake. Some places of the hike are steep, but perhaps the most unique part of the hike is through a 100 foot tunnel.(upcoming variation pic) Following this, is a brief portion of a hike that is not for those with fear of heights as you have to hold onto a cable and go up a ledge. The view of the lake was well worth the hike....Scanned negative.

This is a picture of the ladder that leads to the 100ft tunnel. It was created by erosion. One thing I failed to mention in the notes, is that you have to take a boat ride to the trailhead. On this boat ride, we were warned of bears in the area and to stay in groups of four on the hike. I had the very good fortune of joining up with a wonderful couple from Edmonton for this hike. This photo was taken by the wife. my variant of the photo

One final picture to show the cable that you hold onto. It's not a very long section but it's nice to have the cable to hold onto at times. This picture was taken by someone else as I was to busy worrying about holding on to the cables and not falling. my variant of the photo

gorgeous photo Jim, but what a hike, a 2300' elevation change on an 5-6 mile hike is significant. but as you said, the view looks worth it smile
