The temple Garni was built in the second half of the first century by the Armenian King Tiridates and dedicated to a heathen god, probably to Mithra, the god of the sun. After Christianity had been proclaimed the state religion in Armenia in 301, the temple was probably used as a summer residence of the kings. A chronicle describes it as ‘‘a house of coolness’. The temple was destroyed in 1679 in an earthquake, but was reconstructed in 1966—1976 years.
There are also ruins of mosaic ancient baths and residences in Garni.
The structures of Garni combine elements of hellenistic and national culture, which is an evidence of antique influences and the distinctive building traditions of the Armenian people.

Да Вы совершенно правы. Первое, что бросается в глаза - наследие древнегреческой культуры. В облике храма явно просматривается черты Парфенона и других подобных храмов... Замечательно показали особенности этой архитектуры - и портик, и стройные колонны, и даже волюты ионического ордера хорошо различимы. Композиционно тоже очень хорошо, с этим деревом слева, руинами и горами. Отличная работа!

Виген, я немного глубже изучал историю "ГАРНИ" и скажу то, что мне поведал один историк, который имеет отношение к восстановлению "ГАРНИ". То строение, что на фото - это склеп дочери царя. никто точно не может сказать от чего разрушился ГАРНИ - либо от нападения, либо от землетрясения. Сам храм разрушили христиане, так как всем известно, что христиане не оставляли языческих храмов. а рядом со склепом, который на фото сохранился фундамент языческого храма ГАРНИ. Просто, туристам рассказывают сказки, что это, яко-бы, языческий храм!
