Shulaps are the aboriginal name for rams and Yalakoms the name for yews of the California Bighorn Sheep that winter range at low elevations in the Chilcotin region of British Columbia. I saw a herd of about 12 from my vehicle driving down one of the lakes in the region during February and took this picture. The mountains ranges in this region are called the Shulaps and the river draining the area the Yalakom - in honour of these hardy animals.
