It is decorated cathedral city of Stavanger Domkirke in Norway. The history of Stavanger originated in 1125 when, according to legend, King of Norway Sigurd I Magnusson (Sigurd I Magnusson) has decided to build a cathedral. (He and his family are depicted in the picture)
It was built workers from England, and led the project Reynald Bishop of Winchester.
At the time of Stavanger, the former ordinary fishing village, for unknown reasons, was chosen as the seat of the Catholic bishops, who has been here 4 centuries, until the Reformation. Once, during the 150 years it was the bishop of the Lutheran Church, which in 1682 moved to Kristiansand.
And in the 60th years of XX century the town came up lucky star: a North Sea oil was discovered. The city became the capital of oil and almost the most cosmopolitan place in Norway.
