This is a photo of "Horai Bashi". It was constructed in 1879 in order to make access to the Makinohara area easier. It is 896.5 meters in length, making it one of the world`s longest wooden bridges.

Very interesting picture! A part of wooden support already have replaced with concrete support. Probably in 100-200 years one handrail will stay smile And what is under the bridge? Where the river in width some hundreds meters?

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your nice comments! I think the concrete pillars are just temorary. The bridge is being repaired now. Also, the water level is quite low now since Japanese rivers are not very long. After a typhoon it will be a raging torrent!
