Left - the legendary gate Pudu Prison. The prison was built in 1895 by the British colonial authorities, used for construction on the site of the Chinese cemetery for prisoners.
According to the project, copied from an African prison cells provided 240 to 600 prisoners, but were later completed additional cameras and capacity increased to 2,000. Half a century later, during the Japanese occupation, the prison held prisoners of war: the British, Australians and New Zealanders. After the proclamation of independence of Malaysia prison quickly gained fame last refuge for drug traffickers, including foreign ones. Especially scandal was linked to the execution of the two Australians in 1986 for smuggling heroin. Only from 1960 to 1993, 180 people were hanged (the death penalty for drug offenses in Malaysia and there is, as in red alert on the migration map). In 1996, Pudu was closed and later opened as a tourist attraction. In late 2009, the prison museum was closed again, and began to take down due to expansion of the roadway.
