You conveyed the ruggedness and brittle nature of life on the cliff. As an image, it is not too strong. Some suggestions to consider. For me, the river with the white streak from a boat distracts from the story - maybe crop that out. Because texture is such a strong part of the scene, you might try converting to black and white. If you think it would not conflict with the dryness you conveyed, you might intensify some of the colors. Also you might crop heavily to emphasize only the tree and it's survival.
