Many element in the image - terrain, trails, rocks and plants. Not clear to me what the photographer intended as the central story. Not clear why low contrast sepia tones are selected to tell that story.
There are tons of high contrast images, then you'll find easily your favourite ones. There was a lot of fog and high contrast is a poison in these situations. And here there is not a story: only a view of a marble cave 3-400 metres under my camera (here a poor digital camera, very better if had my 5X7 camera).....and I was not able to extirpate the plants.
