I`m fairly sure I would have preferred the motive without the solarising effect. I personally only think you should ad an effect if it brings something new a better to a shot.
An composition wise, I think it`s sad that the top of the spear is so close (or cropped) in the top
I`m sorry for this rather harsh comment - hope you can still use it though
