Before I read your comment I was about to write:"Looks like your camera might be doing a bad job." Unfortunately, you cannot get too far in terms of image quality with the simplest P&S. If possible, I recommend considering either an inexpensive manual camera or a higher-end model of a P&S with some options. Best of luck and I look forward to seeing more of your work as it is realized with the help of a better apparatus

The colors here can give you a great shot, recomposing to eliminate the cars and waiting after no shadows
