This is a neighboring species of raptor in the Sonoran Desert. They are pretty common around Tucson and further south into Central America. This guy is a Harris Hawk. The interesting thing about Harris hawks unlike other raptors is they hang out in packs. We have three of these guys in our neighborhood perched up on powerlines as we take our dogs out for walks.
