The Coyote is the thin sleek cousin of our dogs. If you hear them yelping at night you can bet they made a kill. The alpha in the pack gets to eat first while the others vocalize there desires to join in.
The ones in our neighborhood learned early on to use stealth to track their prey. One day we watched a man walk two small dogs by a coyote den and the coyote pups all came out behind him when they passed. The man and the dogs were totally unaware. Fortunately little dog was not on their menu that day. Generally the Coyote will shy away from humans, but there are frequent run-ins.
