A cool foggy morning in December at the national cemetery in Marietta, Georgia. This cemetery is mostly filled with Union soldiers from the civil war. The land was donated by a union sympathizer and was originally meant for Union and Confederate soldiers to be buried here but southerners couldn't bear the thoughts of their dead lying with the Northern invaders so it was used for Union soldiers only. The cemetery dates to pre 1872. Over 17,000 men are buried here amongst the beautifully landscaped grounds, more than 3,000 of them unknown. Many of the men died during the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain in the Civil war.
