Not a good area for surfers or boats, when a solid black shiny lump can appear in a wave trough. This area of our waters is called the Swinge. On a rough day, it can be one of the most vicious tidal areas in the northern hemisphere. Over the centuries many ships have been drawn close to shore to be caught on the reefs and torn apart.

Any of you tell me to get lower and closer to the action for a better shot..... might care to stand further up the beach holding the rope, to drag me out when the sea buries me !! :-D
