.... a shape is spewed out and formed. Mother earth has given birth. One day it might be an island, or a country, or a continent, and I was there when it was in its infancy.

In the first half of the 18th century, Lanzarote experienced tremendous volcanic eruptions. For a period of six years, the Atlantic trench threw out fire, molten rock, and the locals say, the devil himself, and spread it out across half the island. Nineteen villages were buried, but not one human soul was lost !

The western side of the island looks much like this today. My representation does not befit the whole scene, but it´s a small taster.
