Rock of the Holy Appearance near cape Fiolent, Sevastopol. The name has received that under the legend in 891 year Taurian Greeks suffering disaster on a small vessel began to pray for the help. Sacred George was it and has pacified a storm.
Other names of a rock: Georges's rocks, Georgievskaya rock.
In 1891 the cross made of a white marble has been established on a rock, destroyed in 1920th years. On September, 14th 1991 in St. Nicholas Church (on the Brothers' Cemetery in Sevastopol) has been consecrated a new seven-meter metal cross in weight in 1400 kg which at support of the Black Sea fleet of the Russian Federation by the helicopter has been transferred above Sevastopol and it is set up on a former place.
The picture is made on November, 10th some hours prior to the hurricane which has shaken Crimea by destructions.
