The road from the Salar of Antofalla where we sheltered during the night for the orcano to antofagasta. Without proper preparation one cannot go into these deserted areas, here it can take days before somebody will take the same road! The view is as close to being on another planet as you can get. Antofalla is just outside the view presented under the mountains at left and has 35 inhabitants. They asked us and some other trapped travellers for some diesel, so the generator would be able to provide some hours of electricity for the village during the evening, which we of course did.. They repaired also our tire at a staggering price of 2 euros.....more later
